Four Mandals Selected for IT Mass Literacy Programme

Four mandals in the state have been identified for implementation of ‘Scheme for IT Mass Literacy’ pilot programme of the Centre’s department of electronics and information technology.

The four mandals are Gajwel (Medak), Suryapeta (Nalgonda), Achampet (Mahbubnagar) and Sircilla (Karimnagar). A total of 30,000 people would be trained under the National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) in the state in its first phase. Secretary of IT, Electronics and Communications Harpreet Singh launched the programme here on Saturday. State Implementation Agency officer B Sridhar and National Implementation Agency CEO Dinesh Kumar Tyagi signed a Memorandum of Understanding. During the programme, Singh distributed tablets to Meeseva operators belonging to the said mandals.

In the state, the programme will be called as Prati Inta e-Saksharatha.NDLM learning centres will be set up in the said locations to impart digital education. The intention of the programme is to ensure that every person undergoing training is able to operate a computer, mobile phones and other basic digital devices.

The course is divided into two categories L1(20 hours) and L2(40 hours). For BPL families a wage loss compensation of `300 for L1 category and `600 for L2 category training has been provisioned. The training of the beneficiaries is targeted to be completed by March 31.
